28 notesThis game is alot of things. It's a cool soundtrack, a time loop, a canonical following to the dishonored series, a funny story that doesn't take itself too seriously but does get redundant at times with cheesy dialogue, a remix of some of the most popular arkane games' mechanics and one of the first pillars that marked the fall of arkane studios...etc But there is one thing that it succeeds at being the most. That is, a dissapointment and a ubisoftifiaction of the arkane recipe. The powers are fine to a certain degree (though not as experimental and creative tools as its predecessors), the movement is fine but so are most shooters today, the maps are OK although very uninspired unlike dishonored 1 or 2's maps (and also very repetitive small and forgettable with not much mechanics to play around with), combat is ok (as in not frustrating) but ennemies are very barebones and easy to kill. And weapons while in their designs are kinda ok at best, they become useless once you earn the best weapons in the game (then again the best weapons are useless since ennemies are very easy) and the color coding of weapons makes them more redundant and turned into a commodity used to take care of ennemies rather than tools to deal with different types of environmental puzzles (then again said puzzles are inexistent because the game is that much easy) The game suffers from being a horrid 7/10 to what was once some of the best companies in the video games industry combined, a first stain on arkane games' reputation. This game fails to capture what makes an immersive sim good let alone an arkane studios game good (which were already very simple immersive sim games to learn and play), despite its genre you can't even finish the game with different approaches AND THE GAME HAPPENS INSIDE A LOOP. It was such a promising idea of hunted and hunter, a race to who checks his boxes first, it had so much potential as it could've been 100 times more creative due to it's mechanics. But it failed miserably as the game is just a mindless go from point a to point b with no challenges in the middle that push you to really experiment with the mechanics, the only mechanic that I found refreshingly creative was how tourette's work as not just weapons but also batteries and moving traps that activate when ennemies enter cameras, if the game was filled with gadgets like these and just thrown in the trash the slabs that don't work with what they were trying to achieve or experimented with new powers it would've been better, if the loop had more to offer, more routes, more side quests, more ways to break it...etc it would've been better, if the game had an advancement tree to upgrade the hacking device giving it more usability and more ways to use it it would've been fun but it feels like the game wanted to make a dishonored prey and in trying to achieve such a great goal it fell from the heaven's burned by the shinning lights of the sun much like icarus I swear the game had so much potential, the idea alone eas mind blowing at the time and these types of hunter hunted games existed before like the hitman ghost mode that was such a blast, a race to achieve your objectives. I really mourn this game because it is such a damn failure from what it was supposed to be, the trailer alone sold too many ideas and this sucks It's literally an immersive sim time loop with hacking mechanics and super powers that also includes an online mode that emphasises -Can't write more mb-
