Uncharted 3 is a huge step up in cinematography, camera perspectives, music, and story. The music is a banger, with the arabic inspired instrumentals being really fitting. The story is mostly the same (as in every entry -> bad guy wants to steal somethin, which would uneash chaos or deal great harm, Nate becomes selfless and tries to save the world, all with a female sidekick and sully of course. Even then, seeing Nate’s origin story is really cool. The new gunplay is also goated as fuck compared to the first two entries (still not great). Overall, it is a step in the right direction, but its age is very noticeable. The game is 15 years old, and even the remaster is already 11 years old. I regularly play on my PS3, so age itself is not the problem, but the technical state of the game and some questionable decisions make it difficult to enjoy all the time. During the cinematic moments, melee combat, and some riddles, you feel like you are playing an amazing game. Then, in the next parkour sequence (only a handful, but they are painful) or massive horde gunfight, you start thinking about how much it sucks. This is made worse by the technical issues, which include clipping out of bounds, imprecise jumps, weird rope swinging and pole swinging, bad cover combat, and not being able to get out of hand to hand combat during a shootout. The stealth is terrible too. Now, after finishing it, I believe that Uncharted 3 is definitely the most enjoyable installment (until now) for me. Cutter is a really great addition, and although the game is not perfect, it is definitely better than the first two entries. It still has its flaws, but it is actually good. 7.5/10
