Although improving on the first game in almost every aspect, the most important aspect; the narrative, just doesn't quite hold up to the first game. As someone who enjoys dark and grim stories, this one left me a bit perplexed. After all Amicia and Hugo have been through, the way it ends makes it all seem so worthless. I started to realise how it may end with about an hour left of playtime, and I was practically begging that I was wrong with my prediction. Reactions to the ending seem mixed online, and I have seen good arguments from either side. But personally, it left me wanting something else. However, the graphics are breathtaking, the gameplay has been made a little better since the first game, and levels feel a lot more open. The characters are all still well written, and the story kept me engaged right until the end. As a narrative game, this and it's predecessor are the only games that have kept me anywhere near as invested in their stories as RDR2. Despite a personally disappointing ending, it is the only piece of media that has made me properly cry, and that makes it extremely special in my eyes.
