I know I’ll get crucified by fromsoft fans but I think this is my least favorite of the fromsoft games I’ve played (Have not played DS2 & Demon Souls yet) However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. I actually really liked it but I think I missed a few bosses on my playthrough and I’m also a bigger fan of the Dark Souls series lore and setting. Everything about the game hits the right notes and does things in classic FromSoft fashion. I’d do a second playthrough if we ever get a remaster…

An a amazing game. Even playing for the first time 10+ yrs after its release, I was hooked on the world and the experience. Every game play mechanic has a reason for happening and adds to the lore. Aside from Elden Ring, this is FromSoftwares best level designed game. It falls off a little towards ending areas but I still think they’re well built areas visually and great at environmental story telling. Music is also great in this game.

The best well rounded Dark Souls game in the series. Gameplay mechanics are much more smooth and improved upon since the first one. However, I think it’s one of the weaker ones in the series and Fromsoftware in general for level design. Places are more linear and a little less impactful when exploring, aside from call back areas. The story and lore I think is a perfect way to end the trilogy but what I do think it’s the best at is the soundtrack.

I think this is the most fun gameplay/mechanically wise Fromsoftware game. The combat is a slight change from the usual Dark Souls/Elden Ring gameplay which takes some getting used to but when it clicks, the fights and exploration are pure cinema. Getting the parrying right on the bosses is so satisfying and feels amazing when defeating the boss because it’s you that’s actually getting better and becoming a master shinobi rather than pumping your stats into Strength and bonking a boss in 3 hits. It’s the most Get Gud Fromsoftware game. What can be annoying is doing the true canonical ending can be missed because in classic Fromsoftware fashion, a lot of steps can be missed to get there. Highly recommend to anyone that has hesitated to play this game, because hesitation is defeat.
