Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion

Story: Story was nothing too spectacular. Predictable and simple, but it was enjoyable enough for what it is. Returning characters from the original FF7 game were given more depth and were a highlight whenever they were on screen. It took a while for the story to be interesting, but definitely worth the build up after getting to know the characters. Gameplay: Gameplay is straightforward and not complex. The DMW system is a cool gimmick, but it is probably the worst mechanic. Completely RNG based making it difficult to have consistent plays. Otherwise, the combat is okay. Performance: Played on the Switch 2 which at the writing of this post does not have a Switch 2 update. The game is locked at 30 frames which may hinder your enjoyment of the game compared to its other ports. The new handheld boost, however, makes it so playing it on handheld can make the game sharper which may satisfy the people who plan on just taking the game on the go. I did not have any notable frame dips during my playthrough, but pre-rendered cutscenes would sometimes have some dips. Thoughts: Definitely recommend people who HAVE played the original Final Fantasy 7 game and fans of the original PSP version to play this. The upgrade from the original PSP version will definitely satisfy returning players and the story is something that every FF7 fan should consume. It elevates and adds to the world of FF7 and will definitely make you shed a tear.
