Really hoped to like this title but ended up abandoning it. The repetitive nature of the combat just felt too meaningless for me to put myself through a full playthrough. It’s a shame because I think a lot of things about it look good, but the gameplay just didn’t keep me interested enough.

This had more potential than it lived up to. The first 3 chapters were good. Then you reach chapter 4 where things get a bit too weird and janky for it to be remotely enjoyable (at least for me). I ended up abandoning it because chapter 4 became more of a run-through-the-level-hoping-not-to-get-killed than a level where you used much thought. And this made me indifferent about finishing this chapter or #5 (which is the last one).

I’m giving it a 4 because I appreciate the creativity of the game. However, I don’t see myself revisiting it much after finishing it. The final battle felt awesome, so that was worth it. But I think having CPUs helping you out makes the game easier than Kirby games typically are. There isn’t anything wrong with the game, other than the fact that some things can feel a bit repetitive. Overall a good game, just feel that it ranks on the lower end of the Kirby lineage

I would say this game is a 4.5 out of 5, but I had to knock it down half a star because of how much backtracking happens towards the end. At times it’s not entirely clear where to proceed towards the end. Also, certain areas in caverns are so dark that it’s hard to see the platforms you’re trying to jump to, and the game doesn’t give you any options to adjust contrast/gamma/brightness.
